Version 1.0 · Last Updated: March 2026 · Applies to capte.co and portal.capte.co · privacy@capte.co · dpo@capte.co
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar browser-storage technologies Capte uses on capte.co and portal.capte.co, why we use them, what they collect, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
🍪 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW AT A GLANCE
We use cookies and similar browser storage technologies on capte.co and portal.capte.co.
We never set analytics or advertising cookies without your explicit consent.
We use Google Consent Mode v2 — Google scripts are loaded only after you grant permission.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie Settings link in our website footer.
Strictly necessary storage (session management, security) does not require your consent and cannot be disabled.
This policy explains exactly which cookies and storage technologies we use, why, and what they collect.
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners.
In addition to cookies, we and our technology partners may use other browser storage and tracking technologies, including:
- Browser localStorage: A storage area in your browser that can hold data between sessions, even after the browser is closed. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not sent to the server with each request. We use localStorage to store your cookie consent preferences (not personal tracking data).
- Pixel tags / web beacons: Tiny invisible images embedded in web pages or emails that signal when a page has been viewed or an email has been opened.
- Scripts (JavaScript): Code that runs in your browser to enable functionality, analytics, or advertising features. Under our Google Consent Mode v2 implementation, third-party scripts are loaded only after you provide consent.
- Software Development Kits (SDKs): Components embedded in our mobile applications that perform analytics or platform-specific functions.
Throughout this policy, we use the word "cookies" as a shorthand for all of these technologies.
2. Who Sets Cookies on capte.co?
First-party storage: Set or written by Capte directly. This consists solely of our consent preference record (cookie_consent_v1) stored in your browser’s localStorage. This is not a cookie — it never leaves your device.
Third-party cookies: Set by Google Analytics and Google Ads/DoubleClick, but only after you have given your explicit consent via our cookie banner. We have no direct control over these cookies once placed, but we signal your consent choices to Google using Google Consent Mode v2. Google’s privacy policy governs their use of these cookies: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
We do not use cookies set by social media platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, X/Twitter) at this time. If this changes, we will update this policy and re-seek your consent.
3. Cookie Categories
We classify cookies into four categories based on their purpose. The legal requirement for consent differs by category and by jurisdiction.
- Strictly Necessary — What it does: Essential for the website to function. Enables page navigation, security features, and session management. The site cannot work properly without these. · Examples on capte.co: Session authentication, CSRF protection, load balancing · Consent needed?: No — cannot be disabled
- Functional — What it does: Remembers choices you make to improve your experience, such as language, timezone, or dashboard layout preferences. · Examples on capte.co: Language preference, layout settings · Consent needed?: Yes (EU/UK/CA) No (US — most states)
- Analytics — What it does: Collects information about how visitors use the website — which pages are visited, how long, where visitors come from. Data is aggregated or pseudonymized. · Examples on capte.co: Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _ga_*) · Consent needed?: Yes (EU/UK/CA) No (US — most states)
- Marketing / Advertising — What it does: Used to deliver advertisements relevant to you and your interests, to limit the number of times you see an ad, and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. · Examples on capte.co: Google Ads (_gcl_au), DoubleClick (IDE) · Consent needed?: Yes — all jurisdictions
ℹ️ CONSENT MODEL: HOW OUR COOKIE BANNER WORKS
Our website uses Google Consent Mode v2. When you first visit capte.co, a consent banner appears.
If you click "Accept All": Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies are loaded and begin collecting data.
If you click "Reject Non-Essential" or close the banner without accepting: Only strictly necessary storage is active. Google scripts receive a denied signal and do not set cookies.
If you click "Manage Preferences": You can enable or disable each category individually.
Your choice is saved in localStorage (key: cookie_consent_v1) on your device. The banner will not reappear on subsequent visits unless you clear your browser storage or click "Cookie Settings" in the footer.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time — see Section 7.
4. Cookies and Storage in Detail
The following tables document every cookie and storage item currently in use on capte.co. We update this section whenever a new cookie or tracking technology is added.
4.1 Strictly Necessary & Consent Management
cookie_consent_v1
- Provider:Capte SAS (first-party)
- Type:localStorage item (not a cookie — data is not sent to any server)
- Purpose:Stores your cookie consent preferences so that our cookie banner does not reappear on every visit. Records four values: analytics_storage (granted/denied), ad_storage (granted/denied), ad_user_data (granted/denied), and ad_personalization (granted/denied). This data is read by our Google Consent Mode v2 integration to configure Google scripts accordingly.
- Data Collected:Consent status flags only ("granted" or "denied"). No personal identifiers, no browsing history, no device fingerprinting.
- Expiry:Until manually cleared via browser settings or until you click "Cookie Settings" and reset your preferences.
- Consent Required?:No — this is a functional requirement of our consent management system. It does not track you.
4.2 Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics) — Consent Required
These cookies are set by Google Analytics 4 and are only placed on your device after you grant analytics consent via our cookie banner. If you deny or have not responded, these cookies are not set.
_ga
- Provider:Google Ireland Ltd. (google.com)
- Type:HTTP Cookie
- Purpose:Assigns a unique client identifier to your browser session to distinguish individual users. Used to calculate session counts, unique visitors, and aggregate usage statistics for capte.co. Data is pseudonymized — Google Analytics does not provide us with your name or directly identifying information.
- Data Collected:Anonymized client ID (a randomly generated number), session count, approximate geographic location derived from anonymized IP, pages visited, time on page, referral source.
- Expiry:2 years from last visit
- Consent Required?:Yes — only placed after analytics consent is granted via cookie banner.
_ga_<container-id>
- Provider:Google Ireland Ltd. (google.com)
- Type:HTTP Cookie
- Purpose:Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4. Used to associate events and pageviews within a single browsing session and across sessions to the same device.
- Data Collected:Session state identifier linked to the _ga client ID. No additional personal data beyond what _ga captures.
- Expiry:2 years from last visit
- Consent Required?:Yes — only placed after analytics consent is granted.
_gid
- Provider:Google Ireland Ltd. (google.com)
- Type:HTTP Cookie
- Purpose:Identifies and distinguishes users over a 24-hour period. Used to calculate daily active user statistics and prevent double-counting within a single day.
- Data Collected:Session identifier valid for 24 hours. Approximate location from anonymized IP.
- Expiry:24 hours
- Consent Required?:Yes — only placed after analytics consent is granted.
4.3 Advertising Cookies (Google Ads / DoubleClick) — Consent Required
These cookies are used for advertising measurement and personalization. They are only placed after you grant advertising consent. If Capte does not run active Google Ads campaigns at the time of your visit, these cookies may not be set even with consent.
_gcl_au
- Provider:Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC (google.com)
- Type:HTTP Cookie
- Purpose:Used by Google Ads to measure conversions — i.e., to determine whether a user who clicked on a Capte advertisement subsequently completed an action on capte.co (such as submitting a contact form or signing up). Also used for Google AdSense automatic ad placement.
- Data Collected:Conversion tracking identifier. Stores a click identifier that links advertising interactions to on-site actions. Does not contain your name or email.
- Expiry:3 months
- Consent Required?:Yes — only placed after advertising consent is granted.
IDE
- Provider:Google Ireland Ltd. / DoubleClick (doubleclick.net)
- Type:HTTP Cookie — Third-Party (doubleclick.net domain)
- Purpose:Used for advertising personalization and to measure the effectiveness of display advertising across websites that use Google ad networks. Helps Google understand which ads you have seen and interacted with, and serves ads that are relevant to your inferred interests.
- Data Collected:Pseudonymous advertising identifier, ad interaction history (views, clicks), inferred interest categories. This data is processed by Google under their privacy policy.
- Expiry:Approximately 13 months
- Consent Required?:Yes — only placed after advertising consent is granted.
⚠️ NOTE ON THIRD-PARTY ADVERTISING DATA
The IDE cookie is set on the doubleclick.net domain, which is owned by Google. Data collected by this cookie is processed by Google LLC (US) and Google Ireland Ltd., subject to Google’s privacy policy.
Capte receives only aggregated, anonymized campaign performance reports from Google Ads. We do not receive individual user profiles or personally identifiable information from advertising cookies.
Google’s use of this data for its own purposes (including cross-site tracking across Google’s advertising network) is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and your Google account settings.
To opt out of Google’s interest-based advertising across all sites, visit: https://adssettings.google.com

We do not use cookie data to build individual behavioral profiles for our own internal marketing use, to make automated decisions with legal effects, or to sell personal data to third parties. Cookie data processed by Google is subject to Google’s own privacy policy and data use terms.
6. Cookies on portal.capte.co (Fleet Management Platform)
The portal.capte.co fleet management application is a separate, authenticated environment accessed only by registered fleet customers and their drivers. The cookie and tracking practices on portal.capte.co differ from the public marketing website (capte.co):
- Session authentication cookie — Purpose: Maintains your logged-in session on portal.capte.co. Automatically expires when you log out or after an inactivity period. · Type: Strictly Necessary — HTTP Cookie (first-party) · Consent?: No — required for platform to function
- CSRF protection token — Purpose: Protects your session against cross-site request forgery attacks. A security requirement. · Type: Strictly Necessary — HTTP Cookie or localStorage (first-party) · Consent?: No — required for security
- User preferences storage — Purpose: Remembers your dashboard layout, column preferences, language, and timezone settings so they persist between sessions. · Type: Functional — localStorage (first-party) · Consent?: No — no personal data tracked; convenience only

✅ IMPORTANT: NO THIRD-PARTY ADVERTISING COOKIES ON PORTAL
Google Analytics, Google Ads, DoubleClick, and all third-party advertising scripts are NOT present on portal.capte.co.
Your fleet management data, vehicle telematics, driver records, and operational data are never shared with advertising networks.
The portal processes personal data (including driver GPS and behavioral data) strictly as described in our Privacy Policy (Section 6) and in accordance with your employer’s data processing instructions.
7. Your Choices and How to Manage Cookies
You have several ways to control cookies and tracking technologies. These controls are explained below.
7.1 Our Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit capte.co, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen. You can:
- Accept All: Enables analytics and advertising cookies in addition to strictly necessary storage.
- Reject Non-Essential: Only strictly necessary localStorage is active. No analytics or advertising cookies are placed.
- Manage Preferences: Enables you to toggle individual cookie categories on or off.
After making your choice, the banner will not reappear. To change your preferences at any time, click the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of capte.co.
7.2 Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Capte honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal (https://globalprivacycontrol.org/). If your browser or browser extension sends a GPC signal, we treat this as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising under applicable law (including CCPA/CPRA for California residents). A GPC signal will result in advertising cookies being treated as denied, regardless of any prior consent stored in localStorage.
7.3 Browser Settings
You can configure your browser to block, delete, or receive notifications about cookies. The process varies by browser:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Note: Blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of websites you use, not just capte.co. Strictly necessary cookies are essential for capte.co to work; blocking them may prevent you from logging in or accessing features.
Deleting browser cookies will also clear the cookie_consent_v1 localStorage item, which means the consent banner will reappear on your next visit and analytics/advertising cookies will not be placed until you consent again.
7.4 Opt-Out Tools for Advertising
You can opt out of interest-based advertising from Google and other ad networks using these industry tools:
- Google Ad Settings: https://adssettings.google.com — opt out of Google’s interest-based advertising across all sites, including those using DoubleClick
- Network Advertising Initiative (NAI): https://optout.networkadvertising.org — opt out of multiple ad network cookies at once
- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA): https://optout.aboutads.info — US opt-out tool for participating companies
- Your Online Choices (EU): https://www.youronlinechoices.eu — opt out of behavioral advertising in the EU/UK
These opt-outs work by placing an opt-out cookie in your browser. If you clear your cookies, you may need to opt out again.
7.5 Withdrawing Consent
You can withdraw your cookie consent at any time by:
- Clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer of capte.co
- Selecting "Reject Non-Essential" or adjusting individual category toggles
- Clicking "Save Preferences"
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred before you withdrew. After withdrawal, analytics and advertising cookies will not be set on your next page load, and existing cookies will be cleared where technically possible.
8. Cookie Retention and Deletion
The retention period for each cookie is listed in Section 4. Cookies are automatically deleted by your browser when their expiry date is reached. You can also manually delete cookies at any time through your browser settings (see Section 7.3).
When you withdraw consent or click "Reject Non-Essential" in our cookie banner, we instruct our Google Consent Mode integration to stop loading analytics and advertising scripts. However, cookies that have already been set by Google will only be deleted when they expire naturally or when you delete them manually through your browser settings.
Our localStorage consent record (cookie_consent_v1) persists until you clear your browser’s site data or reset your preferences via the cookie banner. It does not expire automatically.
9. International Data Transfers
When you consent to analytics or advertising cookies, data about your website visits is processed by Google LLC (United States) and Google Ireland Ltd. (European Union) under Google’s privacy policy and data processing terms.
For EEA and UK users, transfers of personal data to the United States by Google are carried out under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) included in Google’s Data Processing Addendum, available at: https://business.safety.google/adsprocessorterms.
Capte’s use of Google Analytics and Google Ads is subject to Google Consent Mode v2 and IP anonymization is enabled where applicable. We do not receive raw, unanonymized IP addresses from Google Analytics.
No other cookie data collected on capte.co is transferred outside the EEA. Capte’s own localStorage data (cookie_consent_v1) is never transmitted to any server.
10. Your Privacy Rights in Relation to Cookies

- An updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
